Daily Prompt: Bedtime Stories

What was your favorite book as a child? Did it influence the person you are now?
As far as my mind can take me back to my childhood days, I remembered so well the very first book I used to read back when I was learning to comprehend the English language. I’m not a native English speaker, that’s why most of the times I struggled in composing my posts. Going back to the main topic, the book was a series of Bible Stories written in volume. It’s the Tell it Again Bible Story Series.
I’m grateful that I was raised by parents who infused us, their children with religious aspect in life. I remembered how I and my 2 older brothers used to read it and shared it with our friends from the neighborhood who used to sneak in our house for some recreations. The books are filled with colorful illustrations and easy to understand contents which best suits to young children like we were before. And it was from this book that I basically came to understand the will of God and how to accept it wholeheartedly.
That learning was instilled deeply in mind and in life. As a matter of fact, I have fully understood that life’s existence is the will of God and no matter what comes along life’s journey will always be God’s disposal. And as only a human being, I took it straightforwardly and spearheaded. I don’t even took it as a challenge since I know God only gives me enough to bear. For I believed that God knows me and my capacity very well. He doesn’t challenge us, He only gives what’s right and deserving for us.
He gives me enough laughter to brighten up my day. Enough tears to clear my eyes from obstacles on my way. Enough pain to give myself lessons. Enough blessings to share some of it to those who have less in life. Enough love to understand and let go of pride. But most of all, enough of everything to make my life inspired and complete. Not to mention my loved ones, family and the apples of my eyes, my kids – my bliss.
How amazing and wondrous the gift and power of reading books can give and make ones life. I’m thankful that my parents inspired us to read and introduce us to this kind of endeavor. True to what this quote says, “The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it. ~James Bryce
